I just installed it a few weeks ago, following the procedure in the manual, then the firmware was automatically updated and then connected to the computer with the drivers and apps previously installed from the cd. I printed from word, open office, gimp, illustrator, chrome, adobe reader, and all of them worked fine, I am using it with a usb cable but because I need to test large heavy graphics, but the speed when printing wireless was as fast as usb for letter size documents. The drivers are current. No compatibility problems or popups. **Q: Can the sheet feeder be completely removed (to save space) if you only intend to print on the 24" roll?** A: The sheet feeder can be removed. The sheet feeder does not take up that much space. The sheet feeder can be left in place even if you only intend to print on the 24" roll. **Q: sheet cutter did not cut, why not?** A: Check your settings. You may have a long drying time setting for the ink or paper size is set to for a banner or something like that. I use Arch D setting for paper size and my prints are very fast and the sheet cuts as soon as the print is done. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product *by S***) on December 20, 2013* I have always wanted a 24" inkjet printer to print large frameable family portraits, Large poster sized ads for my store, large 24 inch x ?? foot banners...etc. etc.This printer works great, and has some very kule features. It can be easily connected to any wireless house router or ethernet cable, and the printer display will give you a private email address to mail jobs to. If you send a email to this address with a jpg file attachment for instance, the printer will print the jpg automatically. I have email printed from my smartphone, and from my work notebook with no problems. Because it is network connected, it automatically updates its own firmware when new versions are released by HP.The is not a commercial strength printer, but the printer case construction is thick, with well designed plastic. The LCD display is touch sensitive, so the menus are easy to navigate. Ink cartridges are super easy to replace on the front, no need to open the innerds. The 13" tray feeder and associated extendable landing area seem slightly fragile, so I treat them with care. Paper roller assembly looks stout.This is only a 4 color printer, so I was expecting mediocre large photo reproductions. It actually does quite well, with poster sized photos on glossy photo roll paper looking good with decent color, especially at normal viewing distances. Not perfect, but the average person is in awe. Picky detail oriented professionals will definitely find fault, but I think they look great, and so do my friends who ask me to blow up their pics. 8 megapixel or greater photos look the best at 24" x 36" print size, less megapixels means a grainer print at that size.The large black ink cartridge is pigment based, so it is much less prone to fading in direct sunlight. The three smaller color cartridges are dye based, and will fade slightly after a few weeks in direct sunlight. When I print a large ad for a store front window, I use mostly black ink, which holds up well for months in the sun. I am still using the ink cartridges that came with the printer, so ink usage seems reasonable.Roll paper is easy to load from the front or back. I use HP Universal Bond rolls for indoor ads and banners, and HP glossy Photo rolls for photos or high detail artwork. The printer also has a paper tray that I have loaded with 13 x 19 sheets (13" width is the max width the tray will accommodate). One caveat is that the 24" roll paper must be un-fed when using the tray. Very easy operation to switch back and forth, but not automatic.So far this has been a great investment. My next experiment is to load a roll of Silh waterproof white polypropylene film and print with only pigmented black ink, creating a 24" x 6 foot outdoor banner (pigmented ink in more water resistant). I will update on that experience, with and without a spray fixative.So far very happy with my HP Designjet T-120 printer... ### ⭐ Third Party Ink Cartridges do not work in this plotter! *by C***P on July 30, 2018* I had this exact plotter before, bought it in 2014 on Amazon, loved it, used it for a small design firm, I literally ran over 6 miles of paper through it, awesome printer, she just died, heck after 6 miles of paper, was please, had a small memorial service for it as we tossed it in the dumpster. Ok let’s buy the exact same one and get another 6 miles out of her. It arrives, hooked it up and we are off and running. Used the "introductory" ink cartridges that I came with which are only 20% full which is ok, they lasted a few days. Then stuck in new ones from out huge stock pile of new “third party” ink cartridges and the plotter does not like them. Says they are “damaged”; oh, great here we go, just to be sure I tried to install a brand new another one for a “third party” and nope. I even tried a different brand of a “third Party” (brands are LCL and Miroo) and nope. Here is the deal. HP only wants you to use HP brand ink cartridges which stink because they are latterly 5X as much as off brand. HP installs “Firm ware” on their printers that recognize only HP brand and rejects as “damaged” third party. I called HP to see what the issue was with third party ink cartridges. They said they do not allow them as it violates the warrantee. I said I’m fine with that, the choice of having or not having a warrantee is my choice. I reminded them of the class action lawsuit from 2016 (The HP Ink Cartridge Monopoly Class Action Lawsuit is in re: HP Printer Firmware Update Litigation, Case No. 5:16-cv-05820-EJD, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division.) that HP lost by forcing consumers to use their overpriced ink cartridges. Of course, he is tech support and can’t help me. Bottom line is that HP is up to their old tricks again and we will have to wait for another lawsuit if you want to use third party ink cartridges. For me and my small one-man design firm it adds up, literally another $100 month in operational costs to use HP ink cartridges. My recommendation is to find another large format plotter from another company that does not make ink cartridges. This is like buying a car, and lets say the water pump goes out, you decide to save a few bucks and go to another repair station and have them install an off brand water pump, no problem right, we'll sorry you happen to drive a HP and it detects that the water pump is not an HP water pump and cuts the ignition until you put in an HP water pump....... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Construction! *by H***A on September 13, 2016* Going on 6 months with this printer and it works great! I have an electrical contracting company so I have to consistently print out blueprints. The only thing is that you cant print the bigger blueprints which are ARCH "E" (48x36) which is a commonly used size for prints however Arch "D" which is (24x36) is just as effective and is very commonly used. I print these out for my guys when they are working projects, however If they are not to scale then you can print portions of the plan to scale by putting "actual size" in the printer settings. Setting it up is easy, and inserting the rolling paper is fairly easy as well. The paper rolls go about $20.00 a tubean d they print out a good 50 full size pages. Ink is expensive but they sell a replica version which is more economic (worth looking into). You can also use this for banners or oversized letters if your grandma has vision problems. (just kidding). Great printer HP. Wish they made an affordable Arch E type though. Best Value to paper size out there.
