Review: A good cheaper option - I've used one of these at work in the past and always found it to be pretty accurate when compared to gauges in a machine shop. More recently, for my own use I'd considered just buying into the dependability of Mititoyo but didn't really want to spend the extra money given that it wouldn't be exposed to stuff like coolant at home. Checking this newer example against gauges, it seems to be pretty good along it's range, but is sometimes off by a thou in places.. overall I'd say it works well within the accuracy machinists would expect from a caliper, but that it's not as accurate as a decent micrometer.. it's good enough for me.
