I can sit on my bed and watch movies. Currently my regulr DVD player attached to my TV isn't working, so if I didn't have this, I would be out of luck! The screen is smaller than the one my sister has, but I could have gotten a larger screen if I had wanted to spend more money, so it's no fault of the player. I wish the sound could go a little bit louder; some movies/TV shows aren't really loud and the volume has to be turned up all the way. The picture itself is very clear. There is a choice of subtitles, which I use when sometimes I can't tell what somebody said (sometimes no matter how high the volume, you just can't understand something that was said). It doesn't seem to always save the place it was in when I turned it off, but that may be because sometimes I just turn it off without pressing "stop."Can't comment on the battery, as I have never used the machine without it being plugged in. I don't travel much, and haven't at all since this purchase, so have never needed to use the battery.I sometimes wish I had spent more money and gotten a multi-region machine, but I like this machine enough that I can't see spending the money now for another machine, since there aren't a lot of Region 2 movies I'd like to get.Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.
