That being said, I still think this hoover does the best any vacuum can do at removing pet hair from tall rugs, as I've seen it remove alot, but honestly I wouldn't recommend this to someone who has a whole house filled with a tall rugs and pets because the vacuum seems like the brushes would eventually break down for rugs that are too tall. I have a heavy duty vacuum for the downstairs, but I use this one to vacuum the upstairs where I have 2 guest bedrooms for when family visits, a sewing/craft room, my bedroom and 2 bathrooms. I also have 3 cats so I vacuum weekly and it does a really nice job getting the carpet clean. And it's simple to switch to the hand-held configuration to reach overhead or in tight spots. Some tips for this vacuum: Empty the dust cup often. Don't wait for the indicator to turn red. It's super easy to empty and only takes a moment. I vacuum the 2 guest bedrooms and the hallway, then empty the dust cup and since it's a "quickvac" machine and not heavy duty, I let the machine cool down while I dust the furniture in the rooms I just vacuumed. Then I vacuum the sewing room, my bedroom and the bathrooms, empty the dust cup, dust those rooms and then put the vacuum away in the closet. I highly recommend to order a spare filter. After 4 weeks, the little "system check" indicator was moving to red despite my emptying the dust cup so often. When it shows even a bit of the color red, stop and empty the dust cup. If it still shows some red and doesn't go completely green, that means the filter is clogging and you need to rinse out the filter and while that's simple, you want to have a spare filter ready so you can replace it and go back to vacuuming and not have to wait a day for the filter to dry. If you don't stop and rinse out the filter once the red starts showing, it quickly loses suction and starts getting warm.
