Black Medium Glass Worktop Protector 40X30Cm

Review: I had a new kitchen fitted with a high gloss black worktop which looks good but scratches really easily, so I bought this worktop saver to try and prevent damage to my worktop. The board is a good size, plain, and black, which was just what I wanted. The surface is rippled, I would have preferred smooth but it does the job. I've only tried cutting on it once and it was horrible. The knife made a ghastly noise on the ripples and I'm sure it would blunt my knives really quickly. It's fine for hot pans and dishes and wipes clean easily. It cannot be put in the dishwasher or soaked as a label on the back says the coating on the back will damage. It does seem to be black glass right through so I wonder why a coating on the back is necessary. It might be an optical illusion that the glass itself is actually black. It has four feet on the back which lift it slightly off the worktop and stop it sliding around. Unfortunately they grip slightly too well and it is a tug of war to pick the board up for washing. I haven't had a worktop saver for some twenty years but I don't remember my old one sticking like a limpet and it does mean I don't wash it as often as I would if it wasn't so hard to pick up.
