KDF 55 is used to add to an existing filter tank. You can add this to any other types of filter media such as a water softener or carbon tank to remove higher levels of chlorine or iron. 10 lbs is usually sufficient for a 2 cu. ft. size tank system. (THIS IS 1 LB OF KDF) KDF Process Media are high-purity copper-zinc granules that use redox (the exchange of electrons) to remove chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, water-soluble heavy metals from water. This highly-effective, patented alloy removes more than 95% of the free chlorine before it reaches your carbon bed so your carbon can concentrate on removing organics, thus extending its useful service life by up to 15 times.
