The main drawbacks of this tripod are the lack of an anchor for a bag, somewhat jerky panning, a less precise leveler (it is a circle with a dot in the middle), and the many plastic parts.I use my tripod with my Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and it always feels sturdy. Even without a bag, this tripod should be able to handle most cameras, and the rubber feet on the bottom have excellent grip. The legs are metal, but most of the parts of plastic. Despite the shipping weight listed (4 lb), this tripod weighs under 3 lb. The current listed weight is 2.6 lb and when I weighed it I got 2.8 lb. I find it pretty light and easy to take with me, and the plastic is of good quality and very sturdy.The panning isn't super smooth, but unless you need really smooth panning for high quality videos, you probably won't notice any problems. The dot-style leveler also isn't perfect, but it should be fine for eyeballing to make sure that you are not tilting badly. The quick-release head is very handy, and is a feature not always found on cheaper tripods. All in all, for the low price, this is a great tripod and I would purchase it again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surprised by the quality. Has a great feel and features, though a little short and wobbley *by D***A on July 8, 2020* I picked this up to help with a second camera for video shoots. I like that the pan head is all integrated into the tripod itself, and that everything moves very smoothly. It's got tremendous out-of-the-box value. It's not one of those "make it as cheap as possible and sell it under different names" tripods, it actually has some thought to its design.This is a good tripod for people doing landscape photography, shooting sports, or maybe holding a camera still while recording internet videos. If you've got portraiture or family photos in mind, be aware that it only goes up to 56". That may or may not matter, but it's one of the shorter tripods I've come across.All in all, it is definitely lightweight, though it may not be durable enough to count as a travel tripod. It's not that compact, either, but you can safely keep this in a closet or the trunk of your car and always have a tripod handy. Could also be useful for non-photographic applications, like doing 3D scans, holding lights, etc. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy, Light, and Pans Great *by T***R on April 21, 2014* This is a very affordable tripod that I use with my Fuji X-S1. It's rock solid with this camera on it. The tripod is very light weight, yet sturdy on level surfaces. Mine doesn't have screws to dig into rock and dirt, so it's lacking on that feature. It does have very easy to use panning lever: smooth as silk! The Sony Tripod sets up fast and nothing seems to tilt or creep once up and running. The camera screw on adapter is removable as well. It is so light weight, I don't hesitate to use it. My rock solid Bosch is so beastly, it sits on the porch unused. Well worth the money for its intended purpose.
