What I found to my dismay was that when using it for Dolby Digital or DTS soundtracks, it cuts out all tone control. You cannot adjust bass or treble. It produces a flat response since all equalization is supposed to have been built into the soundtrack by the film makers. Flat response sounds...kinda flat. I've got good bass because I can control my subwoofer but the speech intelligibility wasn't cutting it and there was nothing within the system I could do about it. In desperation, it occurred to me that if I could increase the quantity of high frequencies by adding tweeters, the additional highs might give me the clarity I sought. I bought this tweeter array and set it on my center speaker and tapped off the center speaker. It worked like a charm and now we can hear every word from anywhere in the room. It has an internal crossover so you get a nice boost of highs while having all your other sound frequencies intact.
