I have had ceiling fans with the cast iron base, and they are quiet and last a long time. This fan, we received in April 2020 and mounted it at the end of May. One night in September it started going on and off by itself. I changed the batteries in the remote thinking it must be the batteries. It was not the batteries, the fan won't turn on at all. This is definitely inferior to the Hunter fans I have owned in the past. I am sure it is past the warranty, but I'd give this one back if I could. In a dual switch setup the light cannot be operated independently from the fan. This means the switch for the fan has to stay on all the time if you want to turn the light on with a second switch.
