I've put this belt through a torture test and even held my whole body off the ground when I strapped it to the rafters. The buckle is excellent but I personally recommend you keep the buckle off center away from your zipper that way you don't get a accidental unbuckle. This did happen twice but since I moved the buckle off center it hasn't happened again.As for weight support of edc equipment, the belt held my fs glock 2 mag holders without any difficulty. Other EDC belt will give you a sag where your holster is and you are always trying to pull your side up.
