It is obviously different to sharpen, due to the unique blade shape, but really not hard. You will get plenty of practice too because it doesn't hold the greatest edge, but when you get a good edge on it, you can chop, baton, feather stick, etc. Review: Works great - It has held up great and holds an edge while being put to work. Well made but obviously not a high grade steel (or Gerber would proudly proclaim it on the package). Still useful but will probably need more frequent sharpening. **Q: Where is this product made ?** A: This product is made in China but it is not true that all their products are made there. I have a Gerber mini covert auto and it is definitely made in USA. **Q: How about for whacking bush?** A: Small jobs only, yes. **Q: What steel is used for the regular versafix (not the pro)? I see the pro is stainless.** A: It’s the same stainless steel used on the pro. The knife and sheath are fine. The blade was extremely sharp. It is a nice knife to hold - light and lively. The grip is solid and comfortable. I give the sheath a "B" because it uses Velcro strap to secure the knife at the handle instead of a snap.
