However the flattening stone has not been lapped in after it was cast and is bumpy and bubbly, meaning that the flat stone is not flat and will score groves into the other stones if used.Will have to lap it in myselfEdit:I was not goven an option to contact the seller through Amazons systems, i could only deal with Amazon directly... However the sell contacted me directly in relation to my review and were falling over themselves to make it right.They sent me a full new kit that and the flattening stone was as i was expecting and did not have the issue of the first.I was not expecting to be contacted and it made a nice change, so i have to give them top marks for wanting to do the right thing! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Everything you need to sharpen knives, properly. *by S***O on 28 March 2024* Once you’ve mastered whetstone sharpening you’ll never take another type of knife sharpener seriously again.I have totally given up on kitchen knife sharpeners.The quality of the stones seems good, I’ve spent the past few weeks sharpening every knife I can find in the house and workshop and there’s no obvious wear to the stones.I started off with using the angle tool provided on some cheap ruined kitchen knives.They had probably been sharpened by stevie wonder and the cutting edges nonexistent. It was like chopping vegetables with a ruler.The “any sharp” knife sharpener I’ve been using previously had ruined the blades.After several attempts, I can now get a knife from dead blunt to paper slashing, tomato slicing sharp in around 30 mins.Once you’ve got them sharp, maintaining the edge is easy, a few passes with the finer stones or the leather strop will get them silly sharp again.The leather strop is a bit naff but works.Mind your fingers. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice cheaper alternative to the Japanese stones *by M***T on 8 February 2025* There are better quality sharpening stones out there, but this does the job just fine. The chisels I’ve sharpened have come up really well. Hair splitting sharp.
