Most of the time you only get a brief start-up guide. In this case, even though the provided guide is 96 pages, it doesn't cover everything. So I was glad to see a much improved book offered for this camera with 262 pages, richly illustrated (however in black & white). I am also very pleased that the author; Graham Houghton, has written this manual only for this particular camera, not a class of similar cameras.Only two small quibbles: as already stated, the illustrations are black & white. I think the author has a hard-cover version that has color illustrations, but it is a lot more expensive. Also, there is no index, which would be very helpful in a book of this scope. He explains the lack of an index on the last page.So if you have the Lumix DMC-FZ1000 camera, get this book. I purchased the black and white version. In the listing you have the ability to "look inside" the book. This showed the book in color. The illustrations are all clear and bright. In the black and white book it appears that everything was batch edited. This makes the illustrations lacking in any sort of picture quality. Maybe not a good look for a camera user guide that is supposed to assist you in taking good pictures . It turns out that I was not aware of how much can be done with this piece of equipment and just how much time needs to be spent learning how to use it. The pictures of the birds were my 1st and 2nd pictures taken. Great lens, perfect color, super zoom, outstanding focus-all on full automatic.
