Most stickers are either for walls OR windows. Not both** A: Light does go through. I've used them on both windows & walls. **Q: Are the decorated on both sides?** A: Yes, the decoration can be seen on both sides - with the back side almost as bright as the front side. I've had these butterflies on the wall of my bath shower for almost 2 years and they are as nice as the day I put them on. Bright colors with sharp edges to the designs. I just read the reply previous to mine...... it makes me wonder if the product has been changed. If you put mine on a piece of glass both sides would look almost identical. These stickers were purchased April 2015. **Q: Can you put them on furniture and apply polyurethane?** A: I only applied them to a painted wall. I would suggest applying them to a flat, clean surface. They have stayed in the wall for over a year & counting. **Q: can decal butterflies be used outside?** A: I wouldn't think so. Because of the material they're made of they react to hot and cold and shrink and would fall off unless you wanted to glue them on to the surface you were using. It might work if it were smooth enough to really be able to grip super well. The larger ones -especially the ones with a lot of black in them- actually scared her a little so I took them down. Otherwise, they have been a success. They look cute and most of the colors are pretty. Some of the pinks were a little too pink for me, but there are so many I just left out the ones we didn't care for. So I put 4 butterflies on each side, spread out a bit to fill the area evenly, and it looks beautiful, it was perfect! So then I had plenty left to use and was trying to think where to put them. I went in my downstairs half bath where I've been trying to figure out what to put on the blank wall in there (we just moved in 2 months ago so still decorating), so I used just about all of them on the bathroom wall and they look like they're flying in the same direction going from one wall and onto the next wall, so it looks really cool! When I decided to take them off the walls recently, they peeled off easily enough, but every one of them left sticker residue in the shape of the butterfly. I have tried everything to get this off my walls and nothing has worked. I even bought that stuff at Lowe's that is supposed to be so great for removing stains, etc. It's called Motsenbocker's Lift Off. I used it as directed. After the first try, seeing it did not work, I waited about a month and tried it a second time, applied it, let it sit, scrubbed it with the abrasive side of my kitchen sponge, no effect, the sticker residue is still there. I guess I will have to paint over these areas, but that may not work either, unless I sand them first. The two butterfly stickers I put on my bathroom wall on gloss paint came off fine.
