Rootech cloning gel is the strongest cloning gel on the market powerful enough to propagate even the most difficult plants. Its premium formulation of hormones vitamins and nutrients promotes rapid, healthy root development. Technaflora's unique manufacturing process creates an ultra-thick, smooth gel without hot spots that can burn plant tissues and developing roots. May be diluted with water for easily cloned plants. Comes in 7-gram plastic container. Measures 1-1/2-inch length by 1-1/2-inch width by 1-inch height.

Review: Better than the powder - It does work. I usually can only root a cutting in plain water, they always rot in dry soil or absolutely won't grow roots for some reason. I have used powdered rooting hormone with a about 50/50 success rate years back. I have recently been completely unsuccessful in propagating succulent leaves & stems with the powdered hormone, now with this gel, every one of them have rooted and usually within days. FYI the moonstone leaves, immediately dip in the gel, stand up right in damp sphagum moss (loose not packed) do not let them callous first (my experience anyways). I have also got the strings of dolphins, bananas, pearls and ruby necklace to grow roots from a little fat leaf within a few days, prior to this gel I had to drop an entire stem in water and wait a few weeks for roots. I have not noticed this having any sort of smell, it is a small container but your not supposed to make the rooting end look like a q-tip. I probably have over 50 leaves/stems currently sprouting and still have over half of this little container.
Review: Powerful stuff in a tiny jar - Worked great with my monstera cutting, I believe it truly helped it grow stronger roots more quickly. A small jar but tiny bit goes a long way!

## Features

- 0.55% IBA Cloning Gel: Rootech is a water based gel carrying 0.55% indole-3-butyric acid plus vitamin B1, formulated for propagating new plants from stem cuttings.
- Gel Coats and Seals the Cut: Unlike rooting powders, the gel clings to cut tissue and seals it, holding full contact with the stem and avoiding the inhalation risk of dusting.
- For Cuttings: Use on softwood and woody cuttings from ornamentals, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Works with cloning machines, propagation plugs, rockwool and soil. Non food use only.
- Use It the Clean Way: Decant a small amount into a separate container, dip the cut end, then discard what you poured. Never dip a cutting into the jar and never reuse the gel.
- 25 Years of Technaflora: With roots in British Columbia, Technaflora has supplied nutrients to hobby and commercial growers for 25 years. Approved in the USA for non food use only.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do i have to place the plant into soil or can i just place it in water once i've dipped it into rootech?**
A: It can be used both ways. I use it in my ezcloning machine which constantly spray the clippings with water and it doesn't come off. I haven't used it in soil yet.

**Q: Has anyone used this to clone lavender, and other herbs ?**
A: I am on 2nd purchase of product like this.
Worked for rooting clones quite well. I used this with alot of marijuana clones and was very successful with this item. All of my clones rooted well within a 3 day time frame.
Although right after planting clones, I left the clones in near darkness for 1 day+night, I just put them outdoors and they came up and grew into mature plantz.
This stuff gives a higher success rate than without using it.

**Q: What is the formulation? Not showing in the picture**
A: What do you mean by formulation?

**Q: Does this work on woody shrubs, like euonymous?**
A: It didn't work on my hibiscus cuttings or lavender :(

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Powerful stuff in a tiny jar

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Check the Ingredients (plus tips for success)
*by J***D on November 28, 2011*

I have tried several rooting gels, and I have looked into the main ingredient, indole butyric acid. Pay attention to the percentage, as this is the most important component. Don't let any of the marketing hype or word of mouth fool you. Just because someone says "x-brand worked better for me, but all of the clones used by rootech failed", it doesn't mean that the other brand was better. It also doesn't mean Rootech was necessarily better or worse. They could have done something different or made a mistake, just as I did. Now, back to that main ingredient. The more of this stuff, the better. The rest is just filler or water, and sometimes vitamins, which really don't do much at all for a plant without roots. From what I've found, Rootech has the highest concentration of indole butyric acid of any other product. This is the growth hormone that encourages your cuttings to grow roots, so more is better. One other product, which ends in an "-ex", even contains a known CARCINOGEN AND IRRITANT called crystal violet dye, which is only used as a colorant. (Check the MSDS safety sheets!) I did not know this even though I have used that particular brand of clone solution before trying the cloning gels. That said, just use whatever method and product works best for you. At least now you know what to look for. And if you want to go with the facts, this product has the highest concentration of rooting hormones among any other gels. EDIT: Just a note to anyone who has had trouble cloning in the past. I started out knowing nothing about taking cuttings and to make them survive. Believe it or not the cloning gel you use is not the most important factor in survival rate. I started with maybe 50% survival if I was lucky. By elimination, I figured out what conditions made for the best survival rates. The biggest things that will kill your clones are: 1) Stem rot from too much moisture (bacteria) 2) Wilting from low humidity 3) Yellowing (too much light) Here are some observations that might help: 1) To prevent stem rot, make sure your stems aren't too wet. If using root cubes or plugs squeeze out excess moisture and only keep them moist. Too much water makes for less oxygen and sets up the perfect environment for bacteria to rot away the stems and prevent root growth. Aeroponic cloners can help with this, but can still rot your stems if the water gets too warm. 2) A clone has no roots so can't absorb water easily, so it will wilt. A common solution is using a humidity dome and misting. This can actually cause your clones to yellow faster and set up the perfect environment for mold and bacteria. Wilting can be easily prevented with the use of some anti-wilt liquid. It's a simple wax that is biodegradable and prevents water loss through the leaves. It will not kill your plants and will make them last longer, which means higher survival rates. I've used a couple brands and vitagrow seems to work the best. I just mix it according to directions and dip the cuttings or spray them once. I still use a humidity dome to prevent my root plugs from drying out. I promise you will increase your survival rate if you try this. I went from 50% to 100% by this method alone. 3) Yellowing. This is minor problem, but still important because you want only the strongest cuttings. To prevent this you should use low lighting for clones. High lighting will cause them to lose water faster, and in turn they will burn up the small reserve of nutrients in their leaves. A cutting that has yellowed and dying leaves will take longer to regenerate and may not survive as well. Another thing that can cause yellowing is the overuse of foliar sprays and even plain water. If you use ant wilt sprays there is no need for water misting, and nutrient foliar sprays are just too much for a small cutting that has already been in shock. I hope this has helped anyone who is having trouble.
