We also bought the Mr. Heater 12ft. hose with regulator as we were hooking heater up to a 20# Propane tank. We found it helpful to draw a diagram of all the connections 1/2" or 3/8", male or female, flared male ends sometimes. This will show you what you lack and if will need to buy anything additional at the hardware store- and be sure it's correct for Propane in this case ( "black pipe" steel pipe, or copper tubing and brass fittings- the professionals can tell you precisely, as I am no expert). Also be sure you seal everything well as directed, with yellow gas rated teflon tape and/or gas rated Pipe Dope, and test all connections with dish soap or soapy spray for leaks multiple times. It is great to have the in line Shut off as it adds to the safety of operation IMHO. Also the flex line in this kit really helps with transition from heater -to fitting- to shut off valve- to the long hose to tank (our set up). AS YOU MAY HAVE READ- the main "L" connector that comes with Mr. Heater Ventless Heater can easily strip out and cause havoc so you may want to buy a brass fitting at the store and use that instead! This "L" is NOT part of this kit. This kit was great, and I would recommend it. We did have to use tape on one male "flanged" end (carefully) because it leaked, even though I'd read you don't usually tape or pipe dope the "flanged" fittings. You DO tape and/or Pipe Dope the MALE end of the fittings (the female are the inner threads of the pipe). I am a novice so please read all instructions and safety instructions and ask a Pro if unsure . Is the connector 1/2" ID? What are the EXACT specifications on each of the adapters? Shocked it sells W/ no info!** A: The description says 3/8 and 3/8 but the one I got was 1/2 x 1/2 with adapters. It says universal but for me probably not since I actually needed 3/8 female and this only comes with 3/8 male so I will have to spend more money to make this work. **Q: my gas heater will light but will only stay lit for a short time. I've cleaned. the apiture. with alcohol. but that doednt seem to help. long term.** A: The oxygen sensor may be turning it off. Make sure there is airflow around the unit. At altitudes of approx. 4500+ it may shut off for much the same reason. Blow out the Aperture with air. There is a little hole down on the gas nozzle for that purpose. Canned air is best. A compressor may break something. I had a friend who just blew it out with his breath and it worked better. Clean the entire unit of dust and debris. Check the gas debris pipe and empty the sediment. Check your bottle, it may be near empty, or the control valve may be partially closed. **Q: Will this work to run through hole in house wall to connect natural gas to black pipe outside?** A: This Mr. Heater Gas Connection Kit is to be used with a gas line that is connected into your home. The tubing is bendable. It will connect to a 1/2 service gas line. I had to purchase some pieces separately but not because of this kit, I needed them to be ready for this kit. I wish that it had a longer flex line though so I had more installation placement options available to me. All in all this kit made my life much easier.
