I also have very dry skin that somehow also experiences break outs. I found Nia, as many, while researching topical niacinamide, and actually tried other products (such as Olay), even tried to mix my own (with niacinamide powder and the like); frankly, for the longest time I avoided Nia24 and its prohibitive price... I was convinced I didn't have to pay this much for a vitamin B3 cream. But alas, since then (the mineral sunscreen was the first one I tried), there is no turning back, and today this cream is the only Nia24 product I use regularly.So the reason writing this review has been so hard is because this cream is quite unique; I have yet to find, not only another product that delivers the improvements (reduced, and pretty much non-existant, redness; improved barrier function; normalization of dry skin and break outs; etc.) this does, but also a cream that has such an incredible texture: it is very moisturizing and yet not overpowering; the texture is a feat on its own. I cannot think of any thing quite like this, but then again I'm not a connoisseur. As far as niacinamide creams go, this has been the best I tried by far. Also, it lists the amount of vitamin B3 (in the form of pro-niacin), at 5%, which is great and unfortunately not at all common; most niacinamide-creams I tried do not tell you how much there actually is of it.And it is so very expensive; a jar, using it both morning and night, will last for me at the most (!) two months; granted, I have quite dry skin, which means I need quite a bit of it; but that means during the winter months, I can go through a jar as fast as in a month. And despite its prohibitive price, there is nothing quite like it, no cream for me that replicates its properties and its efficacy. It's one of a kind.This cream is the center of my skincare, and I just can't imagine being without it (just recently, I tried replacing it with a cheaper niacinamide-based cream, just to be sorely disappointed; I do accept suggestions!), but I keep coming back to it, so I guess that is a testament on its own. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nia24 Intensive Recovery Complex *by C***L on Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2008* Young or old, not every cream works on every skin type, so you have to try several in order to find what's right for you. I've tried many many moisturizing products from the very cheap to extremely expensive including Dr. Perricone's line and was not impressed with the results. I was introduced to the NIA 24 products while undergoing microdermabrasion treatments on my face. Many of my friends who regularly visit dermatologists and cosmetologists are told to use the NIA line, and like it. Until I found this product, I was just using the NIA 24 Recovery Complex, which is good stuff. After finishing the microdermabrasion, I started chemical facials peels at home, and needed more intensive moisturizing. Later I discovered Prescriptives Intensive Rebuilding Moisturizer which is really great stuff too even though it's a bit pricey. I didn't know that Nia24 Intensive Recovery Complex existed until I shopped on-line for the Recovery Complex. I found the NIA Intensive at a good price, tried it, and barring the expense, am very satisfied with Nia24 Intensive Recovery Complex. I alternate it with the Prescriptives Intensive Cream because sometimes my skin "get used" to a product, and needs a change (like alternating shampoos). I can wear this product under my water-based make-up during the day, and use it at night. It's not greasy, absorbs quickly into the skin and stays with you all day. If the skin is damaged, it doesn't "burn." Does it make my skin look great? It's never been my experience that creams alone will do that, regardless of your age. I'm using chemical peels to clean my skin and remove imperfections (I need to find a really great cleanser, but haven't found one yet.) My skin looks great because it's clean and clear (I've never smoked nor do I worship the sun and I'm a social drinker!) If your skin is clean and clear, having the right moisture level makes the skin glow. Then you don't need to wear foundation. I would recommend this product if your skin is dry, very dry, damaged, and/or has fine lines. I first heard about this brand around a year ago at my Cosmetic Dermatologist's office and tried it because it was offered at 20% off. I can't remember how much it cost, but I know it was over $100. And it does work as promised.For many years, I was hooked on buying my skincare from Home Shopping Channels and I know I've spent MUCH more than $62.00 on any one of the Isomers, Peter Thomas Roth, Dr. Denese products, etc. that I literally threw money away on, and except for the temporary anti-wrinkle serums, NOTHING ever came close to achieving the results that bonafide skincare products provide.I use Nia Intensive Recovery on my face, neck, chest and the back of my hands every night. For the daytime I have recently started using DermaDoctor Photodynamic Therapy ($85.00 for a 1 oz. bottle, but if you order directly from their website, you receive samples--plus I also received a "gift with purchase", a full-size $34.00 tube of DermaDoctor "Feet Acompli" foot lotion in addition to free shipping).I first tried both of these products as sample/trial sizes that I purchased from ebay (for around $15.00 each for a month's supply) so I was able to determine how my skin would react before investing in the full-sizes. And I also have a home Microdermabrasion tool (PMD) that I use weekly, to help the products to penetrate.
