Faster than my old Netgear firewall but the other reviews are correct. It locks up constantly.. Don't buy.
I upgraded from a previous model Netgear Firewall. My old firewall was bulletproof and never needed rebooting. It was very stable. When I got new internet service that is 100 down, the old firewall would only go to 60 down. So I decided I would get another Netgear firewall since I had such great luck with the old one. All I can say is the other reviews are correct. The built in web interface is slow and it locks up about once a day. It does however pass the 100mb down with no issues. I guess I don't mind too much having to reboot the thing once a day but I hope they fix it in a new version of firmware. I have already tried loading the new version of the firmware with no improvement in the lock ups. If they can fix the lock up issues it would be a five star firewall.UPDATE!!!I contacted tech support about having to reboot every day even after updating the firmware. Tech support was great. Very friendly. They recommend that after you do a firmware update that you should do a factory reset. I did a factory reset and now the firewall works perfectly. No longer locks up daily and no rebooting needed. Everyone having issues I recommend loading the latest firmware and then do a factory reset. You can save your settings with the built in backup utility and put them back after you are done.UPDATE AGAIN. it sucks. Has to be restarted at least once a day. Have the latest firmware. It seems to not be able to handle heavy loads or attacks. It just gives up. Sad. I really liked my old Netgear firewal... Too bad I gave it away before I realized how bad this one sucks. Might look at a Trendnet router instead.Update update update. I went with a Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite ERLITE-3 router and I love it! It works great. Super fast. The web interface is snappy. feature packed. And it has been up a whole week without having to reboot it. It gets fantastic reviews. And it is less than half the cost of the netgear. Netgear does make mostly good stuff. I just bought a new Netgear 16 port gigabit switch that I am happy with. This router is just a bad device. I guess you can't win them all.

robust little router and firewall without worring about wireless.
I have had prosafe firewalls for more than 10 years (but older models of that thpe). I use it just as an additional layer between a backup office machine (personal "cloud") and the web. This one is smaller, more handy and very robust. The configuration interface works well, I needed only a few minutes to figure out where port forwarding is configured (it is under security).

Not the cheapest (was tempted by some of the new Chinese stuff that gets good reviews), but this is a proven product with ...
I wanted to remove the wireless router from my wife's desk so she didn't sit in the field all day. I initially installed this product as a v1, but when we upgrade to the Comcast Blast service it could not handle the WAN speed demands. This v2 also made a bunch of network flakiness (dropped IP addresses, inconsistent performance) go away. Not the cheapest (was tempted by some of the new Chinese stuff that gets good reviews), but this is a proven product with a lifetime warranty. Has nice VPN features that I have used to watch Netflix from abroad - but not really necessary. Just a solid router for a complex home network (two bridged wireless access points for coverage, 15+ devices, lots of streaming media).

Very reliable and stable for ISP speeds below 60mbps.
After using this firewall for more than a year my ISP increased my maximum data rate to over 100mbps. However, I could not obtain this with the Netgear firewall. After rebooting the speed was restored to the full speed that the ISP provided. However, in a week or two the speed started slowing down to around 60mbps and would not test higher until rebooting. Contacting Netgear technical support was not a good experience. They wanted me to test my LAN and provide a lot of detailed info and testing results. The assumption was that something on my local LAN could be causing the problem. After much discussion they stood firm that they could not troubleshoot this issue without the extensive information they were requesting. I decided to dump the Netgear firewall and replace it with the Ubiquiti Edgerouter X. What a great decision. The Edgerouter X has performed perfectly and with over a month of continuous operation the ISP speed tests exactly the same as it did when first connected. The Netgear firewall is a good unit for ISP speeds below 60mbps and is much easier to configure than the Ubiquiti if you need to do special firewall configuration. However, for normal router functions including DHCP and port forwarding, it is very easy to use.
