Hinges are pretty cheap, but that made them easier to bend slightly to line up the crooked top. The quality is like any unfinished craft item you can find at Michaels etc. Wanted a 3x5 card box to hold my mom’s recipes. Most pre-made boxes are for larger notecards, except for plastic boxes. It's actually boxwood (that's a tree species, a soft wood, with very subtle grain). However, it is much better than expected! One black stain and glue blobs on the inside, so not perfect; but it fits 3x5 index cards with just a little room on either side, and looks decent. Lid closes evenly on top of the base, which was a relief. Might be a gamble ordering yours, but we're happy with the one we recieved.
