From the picture they look like they are self opening and not self closing?** A: I used these on the inside of bifold doors. So the hinge wants to open up flat which in my scenario actually closes the door. If you flip the hinge and mount it it say on a box with a lid, you would need a hook to hold the lid shut because the springs would want to make the door fly open. **Q: What is the distance hole to hole?** A: The hole to hole distance is 25mm. **Q: What is the spring rate in terms of torque per degree of rotation? Need to decide how many are needed to lift my lid.** A: These hinges clothes on themselves I don’t believe you can mount them so that they would be used to open something on the other hand I’m not saying you can’t I haven’t thought about it but I can’t begin to tell you about torque all I know is that two hinges will close a small wooden door with no problem. This spring does the job. Pros: Easy to install Includes 4 spring hinges Cons: Spring action not very strong Although this hinge works for my application, I ended up using a bungee cord to secure jar to my feeder because squirrels kept knocking the jar out of place. The spring tension is enough to keep jar secure but not enough to hold up to the squirrels. For other applications it may be fine.
