Yes, plastic and wish it were metal, short attached cord and wish it was a slot without a cord, the plastic lock attachment does not work easily at the end of the m.2, the other end works very well with the m.2 fitting in nicely...but again, it works. The speed is as stated and excellent...and when all said and done it works well...being better than its overall appearance. And the reason for my purchase was I have a Crucial T500 with a built-on heatsink and it fits and the top closes completely without issue. For whatever reason it is difficult to find enclosers that work with built-on heatsinks...and I wanted one with a full encloser and not open, as I like to store the m.2 in the encloser. The reason for this review is to help others with m.2's that have built-on heatsinks.
