The surge protectors (There are two parallel ones with lighted button switches on top) work perfectly and allow you to turn off certain outlets while leaving others on, if you should so desire (ie: turning off certain lamps with the touch of a button while still powering a laptop/tablet and a projector or monitor -- you can do that with this device, and with all of the above plugged into it via electrical outlet or USB interface)... Also, it has good traction and will stay in place on the table or desk without being mounted down permanently. Nearly as important as anything else though - it's not an eyesore. It looks great, it performs better. This particular device has the least percentage of bad reviews by proportion out of any similar items, which is why I initially picked it over the rest. Upon further investigation reading all the negative reviews, it seems like most of them just got units that were dead on arrival and either received a replacement or a refund. I understand that happens with any device, and that I got lucky, however I can almost certainly say that all the other negative reviews are almost certainly user error or people who are just inept with technology and don't realize that this isn't the device they were looking for because they don't understand the product description despite it being accurate. Like I said, this thing has stood up to wear and tear without even a hiccup on my end. It's a great unit with a lot of unique features. It has intelligent USB interface which will adjust the amperage to the correct amount for the device that is plugged in, with overcharge protection and every other bell and whistle you could possibly desire for your phone or tablet that you want to preserve the lifespan of. I don't get paid for reviews. I paid full price for this item. If you look at my reviews, you'll see that I hardly ever give anything 5 stars. I'll update if anything changes. Hope this helps someone out! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Upright Power Charging/USB Charging Station *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2015* This is a nice upright power supply outlet hub that also has a series of USB ports for power charging of USB devices (but no USB "pass through to other devices; it is for charging only). It is fairly large in size without being too obnoxious, and there is plenty of room allowed to plug in most anything, including wall charger "bricks" that we often have to use. There are two on/off buttons that are recessed into the top of the unit. Each half of the button provides power to half the stand. A blue light comes on when the power button(s) has/have been depressed. The cord is about eight feet long, and is made of a very heavy material, so it would seem the device is built to withstand a good amount of current.The physical quality of the unit itself is good. It does not squeak, rattle, or feel like its put together of multiple pieces that aren't going to want to stay together. In fact, it feels sturdier than I expected. It's not bad looking, either, which is a nice thing, because you can put it on, say, a work desk and not be embarrassed by an ugly plug in station (and no shortage of this type of device really ARE ugly). I only wish the little blue light for the USB area wasn't so bright. It practically lights up my room when sleeping. A couple years later and MOST of the outlets have held up through the years saving me from needing to purchase a new outlet strip which is awesome but the bright blue light has only gotten more and more irritating over hte years. I have cloth over that spot constantly. Not sure if that's safe?
