It holds your phone in portrait or landscape mode and performs a range of contortions – see the photos in the description. As you might guess, though, the picture showing it suction-attached to the top of a dashboard is misleading – it won’t stay put if the dash has a textured finish, as in most cars, unless you attach something smooth and flat to the dash.One-handed operation is no exaggeration. Place your phone (it must support wireless charging) in the holder and the padded arms move in to grip it. Touch the metal pad at the base of the holder, and the arms release their grip. Quite spooky when you first try it! The system works well with my iPhone XS, even in a bumper case.Of course, for it to perform those tricks, it has to be powered. The cradle has a USB-C socket. The supplied USB-C cable is 1 m. long. If your car doesn’t have a USB outlet, you’ll need an adapter for the ‘cigarette lighter’ socket. Ideally, your car will supply power to the cradle when you unlock the car, not just when the ignition is on.I use the vent mount rather than the suction mount. It provides a vice-like grip on the vents in my 5-Series. My previous holder fell off the vent from time to time.The wireless charging certainly works, and works well. Testing it for speed will have to wait, though, until after my forthcoming three-week holiday.Overall, this is a superb holder but do consider carefully where you’ll install it before ordering. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you've a wireless chargeable phone and drive you won't know you need this till you have it *by V***7 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 March 2019* I have a wireless chargeable phone (pixel 3xl) which I have wireless charging stands/pads around the house. This includes the Google stand, which does charge rapidly (the rest don't).So when I got the chance to review this car phone holder and wireless charger I went for it. I noted that it was billed as a fast charger but wasn't sure it would be the case for my phone as apparently Google limit the phone so only Google chargers are able to do that. (I hope they change that as seems contrary to the whole Qi standard thing by the way).Anyhow, no it doesn't charge rapidly. But, I love, and really love, the way it opens and closes with the car ignition or the touch of my finger on the teeny bit of metal at the base of the charge area, and the fact I finally can charge my phone on the go without fear of it sliding about the car and I can use the navigation system with it sensibly placed in line with the windscreen so as not to detract from my field of vision. Also to use the Google assistant for simple tasks it's nearer to my voice and I can more easily use it.Anyhow, I've only had this a few days and I adore all of these functions, but the opening and closing function is in addition just fun! I prefer the vent attachment as the stand obscured my vision somewhat.The holder opens up if you touch the small metal plate at the base of the holder and the arms gently close on your phone when it is laid against the holder.My iPhone 8 Plus is a big phone but the holder manages to hold it securely with ease.The charging is done through the holder - that is wirelessly from the holder.
