Comb portion is slightly shallow for a beard. Mine started to pull and nearly snapped the comb. The cloth liner had a bunched area sewn in the waist that I was able to pull free and repair. The leather is thick, but soft enough to let me machine sew my small repair. One seam on inside of leg had been patched, leaving a small area with no fold margin on seam. Totally not noticeable and reinforced so well that it will never be a problem. These chaps are listed as men's/women's. I am very petite. Even ordering an X-tra small had me worried.
