But don't try to get too tight of a patch down the bore - I've bent some that way. My mistake - patches don't need to be that tight to work well - get better solvent, run more patches and be patient. Square patches don't seem to work as well--they don't cover the jag as well, and they bunch up more so I've always had to use smaller square patches in order to make it through the bore. I'd like to clean it without using a pull-cord, and without having to disassemble it each time.** A: You’re always better off using a bore-snake like the ones from Hoppe’s. You never want to clean from the bore end to the beach. Always beach to bore. Cleaning from the beach and with a rod and jag requires disassembly.
