## Description

This product is a miniature replica of the American Civil War cannon, as a display and collection, entertainment Civil War Mortar is heavy artillery primarily used in military attacks on fortified positions. At the time of the American Civil War, the U.S. Army classified its artillery into varied types, depending on the gun's weight and intended use. Field artillery were light pieces that often traveled with the armies. Siege and garrison artillery were heavy pieces that could be used either in attacking or defending fortified places. Seacoast artillery were the heaviest pieces and were intended to be used in permanent fortifications along the seaboard. The siege trains of the Civil War consisted almost exclusively of guns and mortars. Guns fired projectiles on horizontal trajectory and could batter heavy construction with solid shot or shell at long or short range, destroy fort parapets, and dismount cannon. Mortars fired shells in a high arcing trajectory to reach targets behind obstructions, destroying construction and personnel.

Get Gun Powder and fuse...it’s super fun!

*by K***D on Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2019*

Well made and machined, my 9 year old son loves this little replica along with the mini cannon balls. Very nice desktop piece....but if you wanna really have fun get some Triple 7 FFFG powder, pack it, add toilet paper for waddle then light the fuse you purchase and it’s just pure fun. At your own risk...it works like the real deal. Be careful.

Don't use supplied ammo. Bore it to ¼" and use .25 Cal!

*by L***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2020*

First and foremost, for safety reasons you should NOT use the supplied steel ball bearings as ammo as there is a very small chance of steel sparking in contact with another piece of steel, which if it were to happen as you're loading the chamber (i.e. have gunpowder in the bore) it could potentially cause the Cannon to go off in your hand!!That being said, this is a great little cannon and tons of fun to fire, and the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the bore diameter. While it is easy to source the 6mm (.243") ball bearings, sourcing any other ammo in that size seems to be quite difficult. Luckily that too is an easy fix, as the bore size is already VERY close to 1/4" it's a simple matter to bore it out with a 1/4" drill bit, just make sure to use a drill press, and some oil to make the cuts nice and smooth. With that done you can now use pretty much any .25 Cal pellets of your choice! (This is a perfectly safe modification as long as it's done carefully, as you're only removing .0035" from the barrel thickness.) And, this mod has the added bonus of also giving a noticably louder, more powerful shot!
