The pump housing has buna-n mechanical seals and O-rings, its double volute chamber reduces radial load on the impeller, and both the volute and impeller are replaceable. The motor enclosure is either totally enclosed, fan cooled (TEFC) for protection from dust and indirect water spray or open, drip proof (ODP) for protection from dripping water, depending on the model. We had been running a old cast iron ... *by A***S on March 14, 2016* Can't believe what a difference this pump made in our irrigation. Using 1 1/4" direct pull from a shallow well, reduced to 1" out, i have several 200 foot run zones with 8 to 9 Rainbird 5000 series heads. It pushes the full distance. Highly recommend. We had been running a old cast iron 1.5 that was probably 15 years old. ### ⭐ Shoddy workmanship and cheap thin gasket. *by B***C on August 29, 2016* After we installed the new pump we found a leak. We broke down the pump and discovered that the rubber gasket had not been properly installed and was pinched down in one location not properly seated in the right place. The gasket was damaged and not useable. We had to replace the gasket ourselves. We happened to have the old one from the one we were replacing and took the gasket out of it to use in the new one. The old gasket was twice as thick as the new one.
