I could track our temperature by placing it either in the forehead or in the ear and it gives the reading. The great thing I found in this before buying is the feature to find the temperatures of any object, any room and even liquid with this (may be i think this applies to all other thermometers also). This one even recalled some of my old readings from its memory for the current needs to analyze.
