Depending who you are, this book may or may not be your first choice on studying PI and SI. If you are an engineering who is looking for practical and fast-to-use design guidelines for SI and PI in products, this is THE book for you. The book gives simple equations for design guidelines without derivation throughout the book. However, clear and intuitive explanations are given for each equation. This is even better than rigorous derivation. Also design tips are given throughout the book, which is extremely useful. However, if you are a academic researcher and rigorous about physics behind equations, this may not be the book for you. As I said, the design equations are given without derivation. But you can come back to this book after you go though other more theoretical books on SI and PI. You will find more intuitive explanation from here than other books, which deepens your understanding. Equations are good but intuitive understanding are more important sometimes. Anyway, this book is highly recommended to anyone who want to step into SI and PI world.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The SI Bible is Now Even Better

I consider this book the bible for the signal integrity board designer. The third edition of this book includes updated material to enable a better understanding of how to analyze and interpret the high-speed channel performance whether using a scope or the s-parameters extracted from a 3D simulation. There is no formula or rule of thumb that will ensure a successful project above 25 Gb/s project. However, by reading differential pairs in chapter 11 and s-parameters in chapter 12, the design engineer can develop intuition on how to interpret and improve results by understanding the basics of signaling both, in the frequency and time domains. Chapter 13 reviews in detail how to build successful PDNs explaining in plain English the interaction between inductance and capacitance and how to optimize the capacitance selection and mounting inductance to meet the impedance target.
