I had to re-read certain parts, highlight, and take time to make practical associations so that I felt I understood. However, it is precisely that challenging reading that I find stimulating. This is a foundational explanation of the theory of motivation. It explains how only upon the satisfying of the prepotent need does the importance of the next need emerge. It also offers some clarifications. For example, depending on the person’s health (psychological, physical, etc.), some needs considered basic are not in the order as presented. Because I am one who is interested in understanding motivation, I found this article helpful. If you are one who studies goal setting or is a goal setter yourself, it will give a different perspective of why you set the goals you do.Overall, this is probably not on everyone’s “must read” list, but it is a good primer on perhaps what is the most known theory of motivation - Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fundamental to Maslow's work *by A***G on Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2017* This brief 1943 Abraham Maslow monograph is reprinted here and is well worth reading.
