    Useful, but tempo fluctuations bothersome

I'm actually going to have to agree with one of the other customers who commented on the inconsistent tempo--the fluctuations drove me crazy!  Aside from that, this CD-book set is very helpful in allowing the pianist to run through the composition with the orchestra.  I believe that practice makes PERMANENT, and that PERFECT practice makes perfect, so due to the (in my opinion) misplaced tempo fluctuations, I would strongly recommend that the pianist thoroughly learn the music and practice a lot BEFORE using this set, then use it sparingly.

The full recording version has a loud banging at the beginning of each section. It seemed out of time with the pianist and orchestra. I was surprised, because I have this same company's version of Chopin's Concerto No.2 in F minor, and that one is excellent. The pianist and orchestra play well enough to be a great version to listen to multiple times, for learning. I wish they had used that pianist and orchestra for this Chopin Concerto No.1 in E Minor.

It's a great help for preparing the work for a concert with it's recordings in different speeds. The sheet music is a good edition with interesting fingerings.
