The previous generation devices had aluminium and would oxidise after a while and there was no way to take them off if that happened severely. Expensive problem. These are brass though on this model, and so I'm hoping there's no problems ahead. There's a cool retro quality voice notification on this device too, which I think is much better than the boring beep on my previous system.I have only one and a half criticisms:1. Backlit display brightness could be brighter for sunny days.2. Due to exposed position on the dashboard, strong sun exposure heats things up, which is not good for the battery life. A lighter colour or some kind of thermal hood would maybe protect the non solar cell part of the body without creating too much reflection risk in the windscreen? It's a challenge for the engineer for the next generation, but this device is amazing value, as it is.1 year on...The sensors are still working for me, but unfortunately, after not using the car much over the last few months on lockdown; the sensor caps have got stuck on the valves again. Unless they switch to a plastic thread; I think this will continue to be an issue. I'd definitely recommend adding a calendar reminder for 4-8 weeks repeating, to make sure you loosen and re-tighten the caps, even if your pressure has held ok, to prevent the caps from sticking on. I'm hoping the next generation of the design will change the cap thread to plastic. Something to look out for of buying a set of TPMS sensors again in the future.Another quick note. Often with these, I find there's one or two of the sensors which either come with a poor battery, or perhaps the difficulty of transmitting through the car body, wears the battery down and the sensor will stop working. This will look like the signal is still coming, bit no info is updating for that corner. I think the unit pretend that there's no problem, to avoid customers returning it straightaway 😂. Anyway, keep an eye out for the pressure and temperature not changing on one corner, when all the others are. It's a bit of a safety risk tbh, but spottable, so not too serious. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Confidence inspiring TPMS that is easy to fit *by P***W on 4 October 2019* Extremely to install. Screw on the sensors to the tyre valves and it's done.Was working straight out of the box, no need to charge up the unit.Good range, I fitted the sensors on the car which was on the driveway, I then switched on the unit in the garage and it picked up the signal from all 4 wheels.Accurate readings, they display to within 0.1 bar of pressure gauge used when inflating the tyres.Display shows uniform increase in pressure in all 4 tyres after a period of driving, and the increase is dependent on time driven & speed. This is as expected and gives confidence that all is correct.I was expecting it to be auto on/off but it isn't, it has to be manually turned on & off. It's not a problem.I have had it fitted for over a month now and never needed to charge it via the cable, the solar panel works just fine - even after I forget to tun it off.The display is difficult to read in bright daylight - this is my reason for not giving it 5 stars. ### ⭐ One sensor has stopped working and 3 of them have rusted onto tyre valves - UPDATE -NIGHTMARE *by M***K on 2 February 2021* UPDATE - Spent Sunday afternoon cutting these off the tyre valves. Was a nightmare. Make sure you cut rather than break apart as it will end up deflating the tyre which happened on my first one. Beware and if you haven't checked yours yet then do it now while you have tools and not stuck in a motorway.The RR sensor has stopped working ..... well the pressure reading has albeit the temp seems to work. So took it off changed battery etc but still the same. The other issue when checking the other 3 sensors they appear to have rusted onto the tyre valves. I cant seem to turn them by hand anymore.
