Inside this box I placed a lithium ion battery which only took up a small section and was secured by both the divider (Supplied) and Velcro (Lowes). In the lid I placed the wiring and terminal strips which supplied power to the power pole mounted through box connector, voltage meter, USB connectors and more. The quality of the box was great, it is vented if needed, it has the shape needed to allow installation of gauges, through box connectors, and if desired, running cables from the inside of the box to the outside through the over hanging entry ports they designed it. I preferred mounting port connectors. It has a strap to secure around the box to give extra help in keeping the cover on. etc. By the way, that unused space.... I use to store my coax cable, extra fuses, and more. Clean and dry. I ordered 4 boxes. I received 4 bottoms, 4 tops, but only 3 straps. The box that contained no strap was an unmolested, factory-sealed box... so... the manufacturer has quality control "issues" in its shipping department. **Q: What is the outside dimension at the bottom of the box? I need it to fit inside my 8 inch mounting rails.** A: 14" long by 7 1/4" wide. does that help ya? **Q: Are there vent holes in the top of this box? Don'twant water to get in to ruin the battery. If it does, can someone recommend one without vent holes?** A: As already noted, venting of the boxes comes via the cable entry points, same as almost every battery box on the market. I have had a similar design for seven years on an off-road trailer and never had a problem. Purchasing these for inside the garage where I store the battery and keep on a battery minder during the winter. **Q: Would this case fit a group 35 optima yellowtop? I have a series 24 battery but needed the extra space to outfit a "WATERWICH 2 3 4 Hole Marine Illuminated Toggle Rocker Switch Panel". I have a PUP and space is hard to come by. This box worked PERFECT. There is a divider inside that allows you to space it out to the correct dimensions. Unfortunately my initial project I cut a wrong hole and I'm also needing to add an additional battery to my setup. I just purchased an additional 2 of these to complete my project in full.
