Review: Miracle Frooties are sooooo cool - Like most people, I was skeptical about trying Frooties. I read a lot of articles about the product and watched many You Tube videos. Curiosity finally got the best of me and I placed my order. My order arrived today. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they included a free Frootie in with my invoice as a thank you. I started by lining up a host of items: Lime wedges, Lemon Wedges, Star Fruit slices, Pure Vitamin C powder (incredibly sour), Plain Greek Yogurt, Sour Cream, Brussels Sprouts, Red Wine Vinegar, Tabasco Sauce & Vodka. I popped my Frootie in my mouth and swished it around for about 3 minutes. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to swallow my saliva so I just held it in my mouth the whole time then spit when I was done. First, the lemon wedge. I took a bite and my eyes lit up. It tasted like a lemon that someone had rolled in powdered sugar. It was sublime. Next I tried the Lime wedge. Again, you taste the lime but it tastes like a lime candy. I started laughing. The Star Fruit tasted almost like a soft apple. It was sweet and had a mild crunch. I ended up eating about 4 slices of that. I mixed the vitamin c powder into a glass of water. When I took a mouthful, I naturally expected a very sour taste. Instead, it tasted like a light lemonade. I was so curious that I actually stuck my finger directly into the Vitamin C powder and tasted it. It tasted like a Pixi Stick. The Greek yogurt tasted tart still, but had a very pleasant sweet taste. What surprised me the most was the sour cream. It tasted like a really creamy frosting...hard to explain but I had 3 teaspoons of it! The Brussels sprouts tasted like chestnuts. I really enjoyed their flavor. The Tabasco sauce almost tasted like a V8 juice EXCEPT the tip of your tongue can still sense the heat. So it was sweet, but the tip of my tongue told me otherwise. I now realize why people shake it onto their tongue in the videos. The red wine vinegar still smelled very much like vinegar as I brought it to my mouth. I had a hard time with that one. But when it hit my tongue, it tasted like a port. It is nothing I would drink, but I had to take a sip out of curiosity. At this point I was starting to worry that my stomach was going to pay me back, but it felt completely fine. I journeyed on and tried a small sip of vodka, which simply tasted like water. There wasn't much of a taste. I imagine if you squeezed lemon juice into it, you would probably have a fantastic "lemon-drop". After my tasting spree I cleaned everything up, got a glass of water and went into the other room. About 1 hour later I found myself going back to see what a Brussels sprout tastes like without the frootie. I bit into one and it still tasted like a roasted chestnut. To check myself I bit a small wedge of lime and it too still tasted like lime candy. The effect was still working after more than one hour. I got online to order another package because I have organized a "Flavor Tripping Party" which is what these parties are called when you pop a frootie and serve all these bizarre foods. If you've got an adventurous spirit, give them a try. I hope my ramblings have helped answer someone's questions and motivated someone else to give them a try.
Review: Interesting... - Great product. When I opened the package, I found out that the people who sell them gave me an extra bonus tablet, so I decided to use it that very night. I didn't have too much foods in stock to test them on, but I did what I could. By themselves, the tablets really don't taste like anything. I picked up a sour or sweet note every now and then, but it was bland for the most part. It took around 2-3 minutes to dissolve. I also cleaned my tongue prior to testing. Cantaloupe Melon - Not much of a change. I noticed that it was slightly sweeter, as if someone sprinkled a pinch of sugar onto it. Orange - Probably my favorite. It took cheap oranges that have been sitting around for who knows how long, and turned them into probably the best oranges I've ever had. It didn't have the taste of confectionery sugar like the cantaloupe did, but the sweetness blended in perfectly. Lemon - Another great experience. I actually had two lemons. One was really old and on the verge of drying out, and the other was freshly sent to me from my aunt's lemon trees in California (I live in CT). The old lemon wasn't half bad, but it was a lot more sour than the fresh one. The fresh one was juicy. It tasted like a lemon head with a bit more of a sour note. If I had mixed it with some water, I'm pretty sure it would've been the best lemonade I've ever had. Tomato - Interesting. Like the cantaloupe, it didn't change too much. But I could definitely taste the sweetness. It's probably like two pinches of sugar this time. Blueberries - A runner up. Great flavor. Insanely sweet, and the blueberry flavor intensified by quite a bit. Really enjoyed these. Black Chinese Vinegar - I'd stay away from this one. Just use normal distilled vinegar. The Black Vinegar only had a hint of sour left, and a peculiar sweetness replaced it (not in a good way). I really don't know how to explain it. It was like the sweetness of fermented rice and a cup of sugar. Salt and Vinegar Chips - Takes the edge off of the vinegar, and it adds a slight sweetness. Not bad, but I'd much rather just eat the chips without the tablet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Review from a Customer Mid-Flavor Trip
*by Y***K on May 20, 2012*

It's the new thing. Anybody who is *anyone* has at least heard of the glamorous life of flavor tripping. With this new fruit (suspiciously called "Miracle Berries"), changing your taste buds to something totally out-of-this-world is just one ridiculously priced produce away! However, with this "Frooties" brand, things become much, much, much cheaper. A 15$ berry becomes a 15$ pack of 10 tablets. That's about $1.50 per trip (or per person if you're having a party. As you can probably tell from my title, I just took one of these and am actually trying these fruits while I write this. But before I get to the good stuff, let's go through some before prep. As another reviewer noted, these things work best when your tongue is clean. So, invest in a tongue scraper. Trust me, these things are great for even non-miracle-berry events. Any will do, but here are a few amazon.com products: BreathRx Tongue Scraper (3 Scrapers) and Dr. Tung's Products: Stainless Steel Tongue Cleaner . Choose whatever feels comfortable to you. Now for preparation, you'll want to have a lot of fruit (maybe some vegetables, too) on hand.I recommend Lemons, Limes, Blueberries, Strawberries, maybe even a juicer if you're adventurous. Yogurt can be fun too. In order to "use" this product, you have to leave it on your tongue for a while and roll it around until it dissolves. This can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes, which isn't totally bad, except it is when you're actually taking the tablets. These tablets taste kind of like hard, disgusting raisins, and the gross flavor stays the same the whole time its on your tongue, so I was actually unsure if it was working or not until I started trying stuff. And here we go. First I tried the strawberries, because I have them right on hand, and other reviewers said they were good. These people are not lying. The first few tasted like strawberries with insane amounts of sugar dumped on them. But after a while, that sweet flavor started to taste more "splenda" than "sugar", so I moved on. I tried a few blueberries next, which were little pops of great flavor. They were much more mild than the strawberries were, and I think these might have tasted the best. I did the usual else too: licking lemons, limes, sour stuff. All tastes like you'd expect under the influence of this stuff: absolutely sweet. I'm into dieting fads and stuff so I also had a store of "Sassy Water" on hand. If you don't know what Sassy Water is, its a diet-enhancing beverage that is essentially purified water that has lemon, ginger, cucumber, and mint in it. It tastes fine by itself, but I sipped a few drops with the Miracle Berries. And DANG. It tasted like pure lemonade or something! I think the genius of this stuff is in its inherent ability to make "healthy", "organic", and "pure" stuff taste good. There is definatelyt a budding avenue for dieting with this product. But what bugs me about this product is for, basically, everything I ate, I could only eat a few of that fruit or vegetable until it started tasting totally like splenda or sweet n' low. Which was kind of a bummer, and I think that's why these haven't exactly mainstreamed yet. The gross, artificial sweetener taste over-rules the nice, sweet taste of the first bite, and pervades the entire mouth. I actually lost my appetite after I drank two glasses of Sassy Water. Maybe it was from all the fruit and water in one sitting, but the artificial sweetener aftertaste ruined it. Ultimately, this is a great product that does what it advertises: it makes sour foods taste sweet. That should sell it alone. Unfortunately, however, this is a pricey and kind of superficial treat, one that quickly runs thin after a few bites of anything. If you get the chance to try these, don't pass them up, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to purchase them again. 3.5 out of 5 Stars
