A mouse could easily move between the bars. It keeps out pigeons but not doves or anything smaller than a dove. **Q: Can pidgeons and magpies get through the gaps** A: I never had magpies, but yes, pidgeons can squeeze themselves so small they can get in. Unfortuately they then .panic because they can't figure out how to get out, and you have to lift the cage to resue them. I solved the problem by threading a couple of rows of garden twine around the cage looping it round the spars to hold it in place. That had 'em! Only the small birds could get in and out. **Q: Does the cage keep out pheasants?** A: Definitely yes! **Q: Ideas on how to keep Jackdaws from tipping it over? They tear apart all my feeders, even on the ground.** A: We've not had any further problems with the larger birds and those that have been around haven't overturned the feeder.
