These are great in my opinion. The ones I already have that I've used for years are still good and they are very sturdy and easy to read in the garden with the size of the writing space. I don't use the labels or pen that came with it though. I use a permanent market and sometimes if I want to reuse a stake, I put on one of the labels I use for my freezer which are cold and moisture resistant and then write on those with a permanent marker. They do a great job, last a long time, and are reasonable priced. After shaking and depressing the point, it worked for the first several stakes I marked but then a week later, I couldn't get it to work. I shook it, depressed the point, ran water on it and finally burned the tip.
