Review: So far this thing is great. A couple of notes - So far this thing is great. A couple of notes. You can't use the cloud management AND the Harmony app to manage. Whatever management method you start with you are stuck with unless you factory reset. I chose the app. You do need to do a firmware update first for the app to see the AP. Another reviewer mentioned you have to SSH into it etc. to do this, I guess if something goes wrong maybe. All you have to do is connect it you your network(that has DHCP and that can ultimately reach the internet, of course) and power it on, wait 5-7 minutes, then press the reset button, it reboots itself and you should be on the latest firmware, then the app will then see it. Strong signal. Still testing, just mounted it on the ceiling in what I measured out is the closest to center in my condo. (visually logical of course) Two networks with one for 2.4 and one for 5. I may set my channels instead of allowing it to hop around all the time, it would be nice to set ranges like "you can hop around, but only these channels". Would be nice to see a firmware update that would allow for management both from the Harmony app and Cloud. Oh, and it may not look like it at first though the Harmony app that you can have the bands on their own networks. Configure the first WLAN, then create another one. Both will say "both radios" on the AP icon at the bottom of their WLAN screens, they won't let you change it there though, that would be too logical I guess. However, once you've got them in there, go back to the AP settings, at the bottom it will show the WLANs as icons, tap each icon to toggle each WLANs from both, 2.4 only, or 5 only. Update 2/22/2017: Still working. All support was dropped for the Harmony App since I set it up, an update was pushed(early 2016?) to where the Harmony App can't even do anything anymore with the AP except view a couple of things. It still worked as an AP how I had it originally set up, but I can finally thought up a good name for an SSID instead of "test" - so finally got around to doing a factory reset and setting it up using the Cloud Manager which is now your only choice. Still works good, HOWEVER I run pihole DNS in my house and it is reporting a huge amount of resolution for the xcloud domain(more than anything else), meaning this thing must be sending info on everywhere any connected device is going to their cloud manager servers. I can't get the cloud manager to spit out this data in any meaningful report so who knows what actually is being collected. It is for this reason I may be moving to a Ubiquiti AP, but I don't know if they are any better - at least with them you run the management software locally on a PC or using that little stick they've got, just don't want to spend the money yet to go with their new Wave 2 AC model($350+ w/ the little stick at $80) since I would want to benefit performance-wise as well.
Review: Not ready for prime time (October, 2015) - I purchased 3 Xclaim APs for my home and have been very disappointed. The software is very buggy and difficult to use. For example, when you use the cloud manager to change the WiFi password, it displays the password that you use to log into the cloud manager, not the password for the WiFi. It also broadcasts the SSID of deleted networks. There is no way to call for technical support. While I have read that there will be a software update to address these issues, it has been delayed. I expected MUCH more from Ruckus. This feels like they have the B-team working on it when they have free time.

### ⭐ DO NOT BUY -- I no longer care that my wife was happy because these are less crazy looking than the alien ...
*by J***Y on October 17, 2016*

RUKUS should be ashamed of themselves. Their core products, which I have deployed throughout my facilities, are phenomenal performers in terms of usability, range, configuration, and, and, and. This line of products is not that!!! I bought the XI-3 and the XO-1 to deploy around my home to accommodate my ever increasing digital life & IOT gadgets in all my rooms. I was replacing my consumer grade Netgear Nighthawk 8500's and convinced myself (and more importantly my wife) that the upgrade was well worth it. She was happy because these are less crazy looking than the alien looking Netgear units. The down hill slide into really pathetic started with my out of box experience. I believe it would have simply been horrible, had anything gone right and as of the writing of this I am now waiting on RMA's for the opened units (less than 24 hours old) and returning my unopened units to Amazon. The pain really started when I read a cute little bits of paper that looks like it had been copied too many times (yeah, seriously I thought the days of photocopying stuff was long gone). The short version of the little scrap of paper, was that I need to plug the unit into my network, let it sit for 5 minutes, unplug it, and then hope that I didn't first try and use the useless Harmony app and brick the unit. Oh, had I only read this sooner ... because it took 3 hours of searching a crippled support website to discover this. Like every consumer that has installed their own network in the past, I actually didn't even both with the papers in the box. I plugged the unit into the network and then checked my firewall to see what the devices IP was and then tried to log in to the web interface... You know, the one that Rukus already puts into their own products... I tried to log in with the user ADMIN and started guessing at passwords, this was when I started crawling through Google, the xclaimwireless product support site, and of course the limited documentation that was sent. I come to find, there is no local access and that wonderful, configurable web interface, that is part of Rukus's products is gone. Then I get the Harmony app from the app store and my suffering gets seated for extra tourture. The Apps only use is to brick your device. I am pretty certain of this. Not sure what they were thinking, but someone needs to be fired over the app or at the very least sent back to user interface design 101. The application starts by asking for a password, then creates an account on the AP's it can find (but not access yourself directly). If you are lucky, then you won't have to factory hard reset your device. If not, you will be pushed a firmware update and it may or may not cause great headaches. On my outdoor XO-1 I got lucky, on my XI-3 I did not. But wait there's more. So, firmware has been updated (without so much as your click through consent to download) which allows you to connect to there recently launched "optional & free" Cloud Management (but not really optional since you can't get access any other way and once the Cloud Manager installs your units are invisible to Harmony). Now the fun begins, you register your device by the S/N and if you are fortunate enough to not have had someone accidentally fat finger their own registration (a lot of tickets in the support forum on this) you can get the first set of access to your device. This buggy piece of useless software requires both an internet connection and a login for me to manage my "Enterprise" .. oh wait, I think this is sold as "Wi-Fi for the Non-IT Guy". Really, then why do I need to be a networking guru to get this Power Over Ethernet appliance to connect. I am hard core, I have 4 access points in my home which is probably 2-3 more than most "pro-sumers". Why then would I need to manage multiple sites??? The whole reason I didn't buy RUKUS to begin with was I didn't want to deal with the enterprise nonsense & overhead. The pull down's don't work properly and I got tired of having to double check every setting each time I needed to get basic things working (e.g. joining an access point to a network). The other awesome feature, client isolation, which is great in a coffee shop but sucks when you are trying to connect a SONOS device. This nice feature is buried so deeply in menus it took a while for me to find and DISABLE. I know who is in my house and I want to be able to see other devices that is sort of the point. Anyhow, this is an aborted attempt by Rukus to get into the consumer space. Don't waste your time these are simply the worst experience I can remember in computing in the last 20 plus years I have been a geek. Had they simply given me the menus I find in the RUKUS R600, I would have been happy as a claim. However, I am not even going to give any more of time to trying to figure out if the hardware is as good as their counter parts because I can't deal with the crappy software, Cloud Management, or iOS app. Buyer beware, there are much better solutions out there. UPDATE 12/16/15 -- Firmware upgrade completely bricked the units and XCLAIM / RUKUS is no where to be found. I can't even get an RMA and because I missed the Amazon window by 1 day I am now screwed completely with useless equipment.
