I only get about 70mbps despite having fibre optic WiFi at 4 times this speed?** A: I have the p9 which is the same unit as this but with the power line function. I also have a 600mbps virgin connection and get around 535 when connected to the main deco. Using Ethernet I get 635 (you get more than u pay for with virgin). On the satellites WiFi I get around 250mbps and 300-350 using Ethernet. There not the fastest units there are but those figures are very very usable with no issues watching 4K and kids gaming. **Q: If i connect this to my Vodaphone router via Ethernet, will it server as purely and wireless access point just with one of these?** A: Yes, but you will need to turn off the wireless channels on your router. **Q: The tpo link deco m5 1 pack will this plug into netgear router as wifi is poor?** A: If you have a modem you need to plug the M5 into that, if you have a combined modem/router (Virgin Media, like mine) it needs to be put in modem mode. Effectively the M5 becomes the (wireless) router. If you have poor WiFi then get more than 1 so you get the mesh network that will improve your WiFi, I have the M4 as my main unit and 4 M3's dotted around the house and my WiFi is better than ever. **Q: Compatible with ee broadband? is it a smart disc?** A: Its compatible with all broadband. Can't recommend enough! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to set up and use *by G***D on 5 July 2026* easy to set up, high quality and fast signal now available in WIFI dead spots at home. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good kit but watch the initial setup and update the firmware *by H***S on 13 June 2020* Bought the M4 three pack and one additional M4 unit for coverage of a large 1970’s ‘architect’ house. Once they are up and running they provide a strong and fast mesh WiFi without dead zones in a c. 3800 sq ft house, so do what they say they will do and we’ve been able to do away with the repeaters broadcasting additional SSIDs and all that. The app is excellent for monitoring and managing devices and access. There are so many deco models it’s important to sift through the tech specs and get something that matches or outperforms your original router. In this case I was matching up to a TP-Link Archer VR600 so chose the M4 fo the 300mb/s WiFi and gigabit ports. On the downside, the box contained three identical deco units and when attempting to set the first one up as the base station (Ethernet to the Archer) it was a complete no-go, it repeatedly failed to set up in router mode and couldn’t be switched to access point either. Reset it a number of times, nothing doing. Got into a queue for tech support at which point you wish you hadn’t started, and while I was waiting tried setting another of the decos up as the base station- worked first time. Reset #1 and it installed perfectly as the first repeater. So nothing lost but it wasn’t an experience that inspired confidence. However, it’s all been up and running for a week now without difficulty. One point to note is most of TP-Link’s Internet-of-things gear runs on 2.4ghz WiFi, and the deco main network will switch clients between 2.4 and 5ghz depending on load. We had various IoT lights etc dropping out of room groups and losing communication in the last week, and it was stabilised by firing up the deco guest network as 2.4ghz only and putting all the IoT stuff on that.
