Books I don't finish are one star regardless of the actual quality.I really liked book one. Book two saw a major change in how the author portrayed the MC, the effectiveness of his troops and his own combat effectiveness. The author also started using long duration stuns. Not here or there but every fight. This is a really cheap method of screwing the protagonist which isn't needed since Raytak can't seem to fight his way out of a wet paper bag.Due to the many places where game mechanics are skewed in the opponent's favor, this no longer feels like a balanced game. It feels like a standard fantasy novel where fights are decided upon based on what the author wants to happen, not what a game would produce for results. This is one of the major issues for LitRPG authors and is failed here.I may revisit this book in the future. If I do, I will update the review and rating. Readers who are looking for a story and not intent upon internal consistency, should find the book enjoyable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great series for litRPG *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2018* I usually wait for the second book in a series before leaving a review, just to be sure of the series. In this case, the second book was as enjoyable as the first with a good MC and a very unusual class. The author does not overload you with pages of stats and update sheets on the MC so you don't get lost in that. There were a few editing/tense issues but not enough to make it unreadable. Like the premise and the connection to the MC's real life and issues. You must start with the first book in the series or it will make no sense at all, but they are both good reads and I will be continuing to follow the set as new books appear. A few tense usage issues in editing for those who really notice those things. Nothing so glaring that detracts from story enjoyment. My only issue and it probably is just me but the set up with the human antagonist and pov transitions felt a little rough. Just my .02 cents. Solid litrpg story without stat overload. The MC has a unique class which i like to think of it as a mobile castle defense with a few upgrades from the imperium so even when he does upgrade you still won't get a stat overload.
