The mic comes with a wind proof hood, which my missus was cooing over yesterday saying that it was "really cute" XD I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to be of good quality and I don't see why it would work any differently from any other brand, it's just a furry ball at the end of the day. The sitting distance from the camera makes the short version a bit of a stretch so bear this in mind when choosing the length of cable, aside from that I can't recommend it enough. The vulnerable part in the audio chain would probably be this wire since it is possibly more open to interference but having an xlr connection allows for much longer runs in a studio type environment and should there be electrical noise, just moving the wire at the mic end will minimise it. Having said that, I didn’t get any even close up to my internet router. Since you need 48v phantom power, you will need a mic socket on your camera to take this connection or a portable preamp. I tried a Beachtek preamp and a battery operated one with it and it was great. It works with a 12v supply if you are using battery preamps although the volume drops a little if you do. Useful if you are out and need better battery life from your preamp. There’s a healthy output at 48v: plenty loud enough. Self noise level is quite good. The closer you get the lav to you the better though so noise is really minimalised in a studio environment. I like the sound of the capsule quite a lot. It’s nice and open and doesn’t go too muffled when worn. Many lavs lose their top end when in close proximity to your clothes, but this sounded nice. Back electrets work slightly differently to other electrets where the back plate is charged, and this mic showed good dynamics and is quite lively when adjusting the input volume. It seems to react very fast to transients so you are getting a pretty dynamic sound.
