I initially thought these were going to be some extremely bassy, v-shaped IEM on first sight, but I was wrong. To start, these are extremely comfortable.Comfort/Build:I find the K2 to fit nicely in my ears; I didn’t have any problems with them slipping out or causing pain. This might be due to their smooth edges, which is the opposite of the ZS6. The housing also seems to be metal too; it has a nice weight and feeling of sturdiness. I don’t feel like this IEM will break any time soon. My only gripe is that there’s no lip on the nozzle, so some tips might not stay on as well as others. The cable is also wonderful, as it wraps nicely around the ear with its unique shape. Because the cable is thinner and braided, it tangles REALLY easily and can be frustrating at times. Otherwise, the cable is great for a stock cable. The included eartips are generic and I immediately swapped them out for some wide bored double-flanged tips.Sound:Now this is where these guys shine. On first listen, I was blown away. I didn’t do any sort of “burn in” for the K2 because they sound great right out of the box. To start, the treble is very much to my liking. I’m extremely sensitive to peaks around 5k-9k Hz, but the K2 does a wonderful job of avoiding any unnecessary emphasis here. In fact, I feel like there’s a dip between 5-10k Hz that really helps to avoid sibilance and harshness. Despite the dips and relaxed nature of the treble, it still comes out when needed, just not in peaks of terror or excess. Cymbals and hi-hats sound clear, articulate, and not splashy in any way. They have the right amount of decay without sounding too recessed or toned down. It’s extremely rare to find this kind of treble tuning, especially chi-fi IEMs with multiple BAs. Now for the midrange, one of my favorite parts of the K2’s sound signature. The midrange can be described as meaty, yet detailed and forward. Instruments like electric guitars have excellent bite and texture. Acoustic instruments also feel full, lush, and somewhat lifelike. There’s an excellent sense of layering and air around each instrument that feels refreshing and impressive for only ~$50. It’s hard to find this level of technicality within the $50 price range, with the Tin Audio T2 being my absolute favorite. Back to the K2, the vocals are just wonderful. Vocals, to me, are my favorite part of music; it’s a deal breaker for me if the vocals are recessed, peaky, or lifeless. These most definitely don’t fit any of those descriptions. Male vocals have authority and texture to them, which is harder to find on chi-fi IEMs. Although, they can feel a tad recessed at rare occasions due to the mid-bass, but I’ll get to that later. Female vocals are vibrant and lovely, but with no uncomfortable peaks or shoutiness. Both male and female vocals are nicely intimate, making it feel like they’re singing right in your ear. There’s nothing more enjoyable, in my opinion. And finally, the bass. I actually think the bass is my least favorite part of the K2. Since my favorite IEMs are the T2, I tend to enjoy a fast and articulate bass with a slightly elevated sub-bass and a slightly recessed mid-bass. I tend to prefer slightly bass-light sound signatures, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. These are kind of the opposite of what I love in bass. I enjoy speed and texture without any interference into the midrange, which these don’t quite fulfill. There’s just a little too much mid-bass for me unfortunately. Others may not have this problem at all. While it does have some nice impact, the decay is slower than I’d like it to be and I find it to impact the midrange on some songs. Frequencies from 50-200 Hz are quite emphasized and can be hit or miss depending on your preferred genre. Metal sounds phenomenal on these, but bassy-acoustic music can sound downright bloated. Again, this might just be my preferences talking for me. Now for the soundstage. I find myself enjoying the soundstage on these IEMs. Although it’s not super deep, it is wide and conveys a feeling of surround sound. Everything on the K2 is just so spacious; it’s almost like you’re surrounded by your music.Despite some of my gripes with the K2, they’re still incredible IEMs that really surprised me. I’m quite happy with them and I feel like a lot of others will share that feeling. I highly recommend these and will continue to experiment with them.Ps. I found that poking a hole in the paper filter near the front nozzle helps to greatly decrease mid-bass. I tested this with the BQEYZ KB1 (which have a somewhat similar sound signature) and the bass was reduced. WARNING: be careful with this mod, as it’s not reversible as far as I know. Punching a hole through the filter tends to kill some dynamics and makes the midrange feel slightly less full if you’re used to their bigger bass. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality sound and the best designed wire earphones I have ever used. *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 14, 2018* These Earphones came recommended to me by a friend who is a drummer for one of the areas most enduring bands. After years of playing with no ear protection he has started using earphones wired into the soundboard to enable him to isolate ambient noise while dialing in exactly the sound he needs to hear. During a recent show I was talking to him at break and he had the earphones hanging on his neck. I asked him what he thought about them and he said he loves them. He is able to connect to the soundboard using an 25 foot extension. He explained that after trying many brands these came recommended to him by another area musian. He cited the lite weight cord and the sound reproduction as the two features that he most liked about the product. He liked that the sound was not "dressed up" and that the fit, and choice of materials for the cord permitted him to wear the earphones for extended lengths of time. Each ear bud does feel dense. This is a good thing. I believe that this is a requirement of the superior construction of each ear piece. Although solid the individual earpieces are thin and form fitting, this coupled with the lite weight flexibility of the cord material ensures long term comfortable placement in the ears. I have begun using these on many of my evening walks for just the reasons stated above, but there are a couple reasons that they are simply more practical for me. They do not need to be charged, and while this is not a big issue it is a fact. Many of the blue tooth earphones that I have reviewed do hold charges for a loooong time, but there will always come the time that you pick them up and they are responsless. However, there is another reason these are nice, and again this is a dilemma created by my own foibles. I find that on a regular basis when I return from walking I neglect to turn my phones bluetooth off and/or I do not power down the bluetooth headphones. This prevents me from being able to hear or respond to any calls and has caused me to miss calls until I realize that I have once again failed to disconnect. I really like this products authentic sound and the convenience of its simplicity.
