My husband andI put it on for them for the first time, and they were all mesmerized.Since then, they must have watched it 10 times, and love to talk about allthe characters. Even the youngest can name all the characters and the bad witch. Their parents (my children) were rejoicing in the fact that this was one movie from their childhood that has withstood time with its magic and appeal. The three star rating is because of the Goonies and one comment I caught in Willy Wonka.I was very surprised about the movie The Goonies.At the start, we were caught off guard by a child using a four letter word, then there was a particular magazine cameo, a bullying scene where a kid had to show his mid drift and dance silly to come in to the house. Next was an over done mishap with a miniature reproduction of the statue “David” and a comment about a certain appendage.Finally, when a boy mistranslated the lady of the house’s instructions to a more mature Latino lady we shut it off. Not anything that we expected. Definitely a different caliber of film than other films we’ve seen lately.Can not recommend “Goonies” for young or general audiences.Willy Wanka’s quote “Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker” was a surprise.Turned out to be a tough family movie night.I have been out of the loop lately and to hear about the tragic back stories of some of those young actors from Goonies, was just heart breaking.Judy Garland’s childhood in Hollywood had it’s problems as well.No idea about how things turned out for the actors in “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”.It’s realized we can’t always change the world completely or hid from it, but we can exercise our freedom of choice on what we watch or read or listen to. Sometimes we are caught off guard or unprepared for what we face in this life and entertainment, sometimes things sneak in under our radar.I appreciate the editors of the television stations in the city I grew up in for choosing programs that were carefully edited so that every one could enjoy TV without being triggered or immersed in whatever idea the writers and producers of those films thought would sell or push some agenda. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have!!!! *by J***T on Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2009* I have 2 little girls 1 1/2 & 3.....both are crazy over The Wizard of Oz.... but the cost of it alone on other sites was crazy. This collection was WONDERFUL! They now have 2 favorites with Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory being a close 2nd to OZ. They aren't to fond of the Goonies.... too bad the collection didn't have ET or Annie or something like that. But hey....overall.... This product is GREAT!!!!
