**Q: Are the side shields also tinted green**
A: No, side shields are clear, only intended as peripheral protection

**Q: Can you remove side shields?**
A: They are held in with some small rivets. They can be removed, but if you want them gone you really should just buy a different sort of glasses. I like the style, but the side shields are meant to stay there.

**Q: How do they compare to didymium?**
A: These work well in the hot shop working in front of a furnace, but I'm not sure how effective they would be with a torch, lampworking.  I believe didymium is used for a reason, as expensive as they may be.  I'm not well enough informed on the subject.  But protect your eyes, whatever the cost.
