I had already purchased my TB x11s and had been satisfied with their quality and performance. The DSS2 was also a bonus to the Turtle Beach set, and it allowed amazingly accurate sound location and I thought things could not get any better. I could hear every foot step and bullet fly by my head, and when I was bored of games I could blast music with the deepest of bass and clarity.Yet, I found myself watching the price on the Sennheiser x320s for over a year. I finally gave in and purchased them, this is my experience.Out of the package you find the same amount of cables associated with ANY WIRED headset. There is the main cable attached to the USB for power, and the audio input cables (standard red and white cables, but in this case they output in the 2.5mm jack) that feed into the main line at some point. There is the mic cable that connects to the inline volume control. The Turtle Beach x11s have the exact same cables, only they are 3.5mm jacks.Set up was easy, and with a few wire wraps all the mess and tangle was controlled. With the standard setup to the xbox, I was blown away with the sound quality. All the steps, doors, bullets, ambient noises, tank shells, rumbles and grumbles you could imagine were heard with crystal clarity. I couldn't belief the stock setup sounded so nice without the digital surround sound I had before.Better yet, I could hardly feel I was wearing headphones at all. The slight cling of the ear cups allows the weight to be dispersed from the top. The ears close in around your ears, but they do no make you feel trapped. It is almost like a seal of soft foam around your ears. This helps shut out unwanted noises from real life.When I switched the bass boost on (built into the volume control) I was further amazed as it was actual "bass" and not the distorted vibration that would occur with my x11s at times. The actual wheels to control the volume and chat levels are very nice. They have a slight rubberized grip to them that allows you to easily adjust them. The x11s were sometimes hard to maneuver.To make sure I wasn't just crazy, I set up my x11s without the DSS, and needless to say, it was a pitiful experience. Though you could hear all the same noises, it just was not as clean sounding. The noise seemed to escape away out of the headset rather then surrounding my ears in the audio of the game.But this got me thinking. What if I combined the best of both worlds! With a simple 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter, and a 3.5mm male to male cable (you could just do a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm male adapter) I was able to sync the Sennheiser x320s to the Turtle Beach DSS2.This allowed me to have the digital surround sound experience through the much better performing headset. The sound quality is beyond my experience. Every single noise is amplified to perfection. With the cups trapping the noise in, I feel much more emerged in the action of the game (Battlefield 3.)And furthermore, since the headphones cancel outside noises, I can easily shut out the Real Housewives my fiance watches. Before with the x11s, those crazy ladies would still get through to me, even with the volume on the headset cranked up.I have posted pictures regarding the setup I am using.If you want a brand you trust for sound quality in headsets, buy the Sennheiser x320s. Even if you do no have the TB DSS2, this is great set of headsets.*Update 5/16/2014:Over time, I realized the microphone was not always working. As some have said, it has a high threshold of sound before it will start to pick up your voice; essentially meaning you needed to talk loudly (but, in my case, I bought the headphones to game in an apartment with thin walls). I contacted Senn. support and was told I didn't have things set up correctly...which was not the case. I'm good to my electronics, ensuring gentle use and proper storage, so if I pay a lot, I expect a lot of use/life. Sounds reasonable, right? Unfortunately, the saying -- "you get what you pay for," is not only grammatically incorrect, it's also simply untrue. I've spent a lot more money for Turtle Beach and Tritton headsets that were ill-fitting and didn't hold up. Price does not equate quality, or lack thereof.Also, I didn't make this purchase on a whim -- I researched a lot, and could find little to tell me that this headset would be a sound investment, but I decided to give them a chance as I have Sennheiser 570 headphones that I absolutely ADORE for their comfort, sound, and durability; purchased in 2002, and STILL going strong.COMFORT: 8 of 10Compared to Turtle Beach's PS3 Ear Force PX21 with their puny ear cups (as in really small) that sit right on top of the ear (ouch!), the X320s are heaven. However, when compared to my primary headset, the Astro A40s, the Sennheisers are less than optimal, as they need to be adjusted just right to keep the speaker cover from touching my ears. For most people this won't be an issue, but I wear glasses, and have my right ear pierced in the upper cartilage, and the earring pokes out a little. Also worth noting, the Sennheiser X320 headphones are molded at an angle so that the front of the earcups sit closer to the head than the back, which is actually rather ingenious considering that is also how ears are positioned on our heads. It's unusual though, but I like it.SOUND: 8 of 10 *Please note: Our perception of sound is like our perception of color -- everyone hears and sees things subjectively.*To me the stereo sound is, clear, but with enough bass to make it enjoyable (some games are more bass heavy than others), and I like it. Voice communications sound clear as well, but not everyone has a decent mic, or knows how to position them properly, so I am very happy to have the in-line volume control for both game and chat volumes (clearly indicated on the switch), as well as a bass boost switch.For those who insist on surround sound, I strongly encourage you NOT to discount stereo headsets, especially this one. It you think you can't live without surround sound, you can purchase a DSS processor separately (Turtle Beach EarForce DSS), and you're good to go, but for a lot less money than if you were to purchase a Surround Sound headset. Trust me, I know. Been there, done that, and unless you're playing a lot of PVP where you *need* directional sound (footsteps and whatnot), then I wouldn't worry about it. When you have quality speakers right next to your ears, it matters less than you might think.DURABILITIY:I purchased my X320 headset in October 2013, and so far so good.A bit more about me:I'm a woman with average head and ear size, who wears glasses, and games almost daily. Comfort, Sound, Durability, and Price are all considerations I take seriously. Finding a decent sounding headset that works well, holds up to almost daily use, and fits comfortably for lengthy gaming sessions isn't as easy for me as it is for guys without glasses, since a majority of headsets are designed to appeal to a predominately male market. The sound quality is superb, and the headset itself is very lightweight and comfortable.My only problem was with the microphone. It has a "noise canceling" feature that sets the threshold way too high. I play at night, and I need to talk somewhat quietly, but the microphone doesn't even detect normal-volume speech. I am forced to raise my voice if I want to speak, and even then the headset seems to ignore the first few words that I say before it starts transmitting.One little issue as well: the mic doesn't seem to have active voice monitoring, which is something you don't even realize is there until it's gone.
