OK for displaying videos, but not great for, say, gaming. I find that I have not used it extensively, but it does work as advertised. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ HTC HDMI for specific models: Flyer, Amaze, Rezound, Evo? *by D***G on Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2012* Some of the HTC phones and tablets have an undocumented proprietary connection called ExtMicro USB. HTC's own user guides only refer to this as "USB." This port (apparently unique to certain HTC devices) is backward compatible with MicroUSB (5-pin) connections for power (charging) and data (sync, mount as disk drive). This particular adapter is specified as featuring 12 pins. HTC Technical Support could not tell me anything about this proprietary variation, nor what the 12-pin HDMI adapter M500 provided that  the 5-pin M490  didn't, only that it was the specified adapter.Under my watchmaker's glasses I confirmed 7 additional leads on the bottom of the connector, corresponding to 7 pins hiding way back in my HTC Amaze 4G Android phone's ExtMicro USB port. The charge/sync cable provided with my phone doesn't have these leads. What these extra lines are for is anyone's guess (until HTC discloses more).I tested my Amaze 4G phone with a Samsung T27A300 1080p LED TV, and the resulting image was crisp, vibrant, and fast. Functionality was no different than with a conventional 5-pin MHL-HDMI adapter ... T-Mobile TV refused to display externally, HTC Watch did. QuickPic (image gallery) and other apps displayed properly as well.Aside from the HDMI out port, this adapter has a 3.5mm audio out port, which can be used with earphones or an external speaker. The ExtMicro USB connection on this adapter also has 12-pins, perhaps indicating that additional HTC adapters could be plugged in. (As I said, my supplied USB/sync cable only has 5 pins, so these pins on the pass-through port must be for another purpose.)Though I can confirm that this connector fits my Amaze just fine, and has 12 pins to correspond to 12 in my phone, until HTC can tell me more about the expanded 12-pin connection I'm not sure I can recommend this adapter over a no-name brand 5-pin connector for occasional use. It's up to you if you buy the mysterious, slightly more expensive adapter for your ExtMicro USB port-equipped HTC device, or just get a conventional 5-pin MicroUSB MHL-HDMI adapter.UPDATE 1:A talented developer on the XDA-developer forums determined with an earlier model phone (HTC Incredible) that the additional 7 pins included AUDIO-L, AUDIO-R, composite video (not component; composite corresponds to the combined yellow plug that was commonly used prior to 480P and HD consumer video formats), and a MIC line. These lines correspond to connections that an older RED-WHITE-YELLOW video-out cable for the Incredible supported. Are they used for the same thing in newer devices? I don't know ... until I can find one of those cables to test with. (Perhaps -- and this is only conjecture -- with the ExtMicro USB out on this adapter you could project onto HDMI and composite video displays simultaneously. If so, that would be a neat trick for trade shows or presentations.)UPDATE 2:Using this adapter, I watched a 2 hour 20 minute film, and it worked just fine with a 27" HDTV. In fact, with the HTC U250 charger, the battery was charged up about 20% while performing HDMI and streaming a movie. I've also had trouble-free connection and display looking at pics and games. Quell:Reflect and Osmos HD look GREAT on an HDTV! (Though it's a little hard to play the game on the device while watching the TV!) ### ⭐ Had to buy a new phone after using this.BUYER BEWARE *by P***K on Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2013* I really hate having to give a bad review but this adapter will cost me $430.00 all together because of it and having to get a new phone. I got it so I could watch HBO GO through my HTC AMAZE 4G on my TV. Everything was working fine for the first few hours of using it and then I unplugged it and nothing worked when I plugged it back into my phone. I tried to charge my AMAZE and it wouldn't charge either no matter what charger I used with it. My carrier is T-Mobile and it was found that the port that this connects to was damaged because of this product thus making it so I could not charge my phone or use anything else that connects to the port. I ended up having to buy a new Samsung Galaxy S2 in white because the AMAZE is no longer available and the phone T-mobile was going to give me was a LG L9 which is actually a downgrade from my AMAZE. I used to work in the cell phone industry and know what I am talking about.
