It's the perfect size to put in a jacket or satchel pocket, or in a purse. It comes with it's own vinyl/pleather carrying case, so you don't have to worry about scratching the lenses or breaking it when carrying it.The two bright LED lights are very useful for seeing through the lens, but they aren't necessary if you're looking at something outdoors, or with a good amount of natural or ambient light. I tried using the blue "currency detecting" light, and either all my bills are counterfeit, or it doesn't work very well.For best results, the scope needs to be in almost-direct contact with whatever you want to see, which can be challenging if you're holding it against anything that isn;t flat. Otherwise, it's a powerful scope, letting me see everything from etching lines on dollar bills to individual ink dots on printed paper. If you're an instagram fiend like me, you can also carefully position your phone over the lens to photograph what the lens shows (I wonder if there's a phone adapter?) My husband wants me to order more, as this item will replace his loop that he previously carried with him everywhere. The 60x magnification is very ample. There are two lights you can switch between. I typically use the led white light, but the UV light is great as a currency detector...and also a big plus for small business owners!
