In older cooling systems back in the day, you had no overflow containers. Back then if you boiled over, you lost the coolant. Now the coolant can flow back and forth between radiator and overflow container. Releasing pressure by removing radiator cap is dangerous. With this lift lever you can relieve pressure safely without removing the radiator cap for any other reason than periodic top offs. Premixed 50/50 coolant is a handy way to do this. You can still buy concentrates as well, that makes two gallons from one gallon of concentrate. The quality of this cap is great, and sold at a very reasonable price point. Delivery was very timely.
