Are they good for hot weather?** A: I wore mine for the first time yesterday on two separate hikes, the first was 8 miles, outside temp was 80 degrees F, the total elevation gain was 1900+ vertical feet, hiking with about 20 pounds of gear/water in my pack. By the time I reached the summit the crotch was soaked with sweat, seriously it looked like I peed my pants. I'm used to hiking in hot weather and have a variety of hiking pants from lightweight to fleece-lined for different conditions, these were hotter than I anticipated. The second hike was later in the day, at a higher elevation, and with cooler temps, during this hike, the pants finally dried out and were quite comfortable from then on. I think they'd be a perfect early/late season pant. My primary purpose for getting these was the ripstop material and to use them while bushwhacking through dense underbrush. They held up well in the overgrown trail I was on. My solution to the 'breathability' issue will be to add a series of 4 small grommets in the gusseted crotch area to allow for some air circulation, it's an easy fix to an otherwise solid pair of pants. I'll definitely be getting another pair as I like all the pockets, the heavy-duty belt loops, and the durability of the material. **Q: I’m generally 31/32. I’m 5’7” will a 32 length fit me?** A: May be a tad long as you are a "31/32," but I've found that the sizes for these pants are pretty accurate. I'm 6.0 feet tall and take a 32/33 inseam; the 32 fits me fine. **Q: What is the circumference or the width around the ankles of the botton of the pants?** A: A very generous 16 inches. Perfect to fit over any work or military boot **Q: I'm 6' 135lbs with slim body, usually wear 32 in Levi's; since it has a stretchy waist should I go size down or stick with my normal size?** A: Tough question. Are your levi's really 32? Levis shrink when washed. I wear 32" 5.11. When I snap the waist and measure it's really 36" because of elastic. Amazon is very good about returns if they don't fit. I like 5.11 products and have quite a few of them - bags, backpacks and apparel. I've got to say, though, that while I really enjoy using their bags and backpacks, I've had some poor experience with their pants. I own a pair of their Jean-Cut pants in Dark Navy Blue and wish they were better - the colour faded off in some places, the metal ring at the waist got some rust on it, the belt loops are very tight. I don't know how these Strykes are going to show themselves, but so far they seem to be quite decent - they are comfortable to wear and I really like the cargo pockets that are placed higher than usual. The fit is really slim, not like most of tactical pants on the market, and that's another plus of them - they really look like you can wear them every day without getting comments and looks on you. To be honest, I'm a huge fan of Blackhawk Lightweight pants - I own several pairs and in my eyes they are one of the best tactical pants on the market - tough as nails, no colour-fading, no bad stitching, nothing. The first pair I've been wearing for 4 years now and they still look good - like used, but without any signs of abuse or holes (and I've used them in a lot of situations that were not really gentle for clothing - construction, outdoor work, shooting, etc). So 5.11 Stryke Pants will have to prove themselves to me as, naturally, I'll be comparing them to the BH LW pants.
