I'd like to have my hi hats right in front of my snare, the arm on this stand doesn't look like it will reach.** A: it will not reach that far,sorry.you need a cable hat **Q: How low will it go?** A: Dan, this is a great innovative hi hat device. I am playing in a rock to hvy rock cover band. Having the hi hat cymbals close to the snare (especially with double bass pedals getting in way) is ergonomically helpful. It helps reduce shoulder pain and other aches and pains related with many years of playing. I had gotten this stand to reduce the cymbals down to 30 inches. The downside of the 9707ML I found is this: 1.The entire stand is much heavier than the standard hi hat (feels like 2X). 2.Because of all the 90 degree plus angle points, after a few weeks, the interior drive just snapped, making the unit inoperable. 3. Even in normal operation, the feel at the pedal is different and needs time for you to adjust. In conclusion, Great Idea, But Questionable design. **Q: Does this bring the quick release clutch or a standard threaded clutch?** A: When I received the unit (which I sent back after using it for 2 weeks:interior cable snapped making the high hat mechanism not operable) it had the standard clutch.
