It is extremely soft on one side and the other absorbent. It is light weight and easy to pack around. It absorbs water very well but is so comfy, I have used it for a throw blanket int he car. My grandchildren love cuddling with it. It is so nice and soft that it's very hard to use it as a towel. I will purchase more when I need more beach towels. It’s extremely soft, but also very absorbent. Very good quality! I was surprised at how big it was in comparison to how small you can fold it, I was able to fold it really small to fit into a beach tote but it unfolds to a full size towel. The colors are very vibrant and it didn’t fade at all in the wash.
